I've been informed by a reader that Misa Kuranaga has already been promoted to Principle for this season. This makes me very happy, she definitely deserves it!
Also, another reader pointed out that I did not mention what my second job is...I'm tempted to make up something exciting, but truth to be told all I do is harass people on the phone in an effort to get them to buy tickets to various performances.
So, follow up to my last post, another one of my favorites from the International Dance Festival was an excerpt from In the Middle Somewhat Elevated performed by Sofiane Sylve and Simon Ball. Sylve is amazing, she is not only extremely flexible, but also incredibly powerful and dynamic. Basically, great all around.

It's mesmerizing to watch what amazing and beautiful contortion she'll execute next.
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh, i adore forsythe! in the middle somewhat elevated is truly a lot of fun. i had a teacher at boston ballet sdp back in the day who taught us some forsythe excerpts. she described him as a sort of balanchine of the 21st century, with forsythe being ever more neoclassical, pushing limits, and all that. i must say i can see the resemblance!
