A sister's visit and grilled vegetables

Last week was wonderful because my sister came to visit.

On Wednesday we went to the farmer's market.

We always have a lot of fun together grocery shopping, and farmer's markets are especially fun. You always get so much local variety, and almost everything is fresh; it's the next best thing after growing your own food. We spent a while wandering up and down the row of booths, sampling and nibbling on our lunch of (very delicious) locally made pupusas. Finally we made our selections, and walked off with our arms full of eggplants, a beautiful basket of assorted cucumbers, pluots, fresh tomatoes, and a beautiful purple bell pepper!

For dinner we pulled out my cast iron stove top grill, and made a fabulous grilled vegetable medley of onions, baby bella mushrooms, the purple bell pepper, tomatoes, zucchini, garlic scapes, and rosemary.
All this we paired with a frisee and cherry tomato salad with fig balsamic vinegar dressing, and smoked salmon. It was fresh, delicious, and a wonderful meal to share with my sister!
